Two finish coats applied over primer/sealer to achieve uniform color, hide, and sheen on the repaired surface. A single coat over primer does not produce a finished appearance consistent with the surrounding area. Two coats reflect manufacturer coverage specifications and standard workmanship.

View All5/8" gypsum board specified to match the existing wall assembly. Original construction confirmed on site as 5/8" board via measurement of remaining undamaged drywall. Board type (standard or Type X fire-rated) should be confirmed against the existing assembly before ordering material; if the assembly includes a fire rating, the replacement must match to maintain continuity. Like-kind-and-quality replacement maintains the finish and integrity of the original wall assembly.
Wall painted corner to corner following drywall repair. Spot painting limited to the patch area would produce visible variation in sheen and color due to the age of the existing finish and the impossibility of blending fresh paint into a partially aged surface on the same continuous plane. Painting to the nearest natural break point is standard practice for a workmanlike finished appearance.
